only a year behind...

I hope everyone had a great holiday. We had a pretty nice one and it was kind of cool having the
grandparents come to our house for a change. I think the boys really liked all that they received and the have given me many scrap worthy pictures to play with in the near future.

I did a new layout today, and I'm only scrapping pictures from Christmas a year ago! When I saw Vicki's (AWP) new kit, Bright Christmas I knew it would work well with my pictures from last year. The colors were just right for it. Since time and patience is at a premium these days (Come on Jan 5th I need some quiet time!) while the kids are on vacation I decided not to reinvent a wheel and used Scrapmuss Designs template (muss_temp01).

Here's an appropriate one!

I don't think there could be a better day yet this season to release this quick page. I woke up to the news of unusually cold temperatures throughout the entire U.S. today. We hit 1 degree last night with wind chills of around 20 below! And boy was it windy! We had the power go out for a minute or so at least 3 times yesterday. Once mid afternoon, once 10 minutes from the end of the movie while we were watching The Dark Knight and right after we finished up the second movie. My other half was like did you shut off the lights/TV all at once, or is it the power again? Come on, I'm good, but no one is quite that good! We may have lost it a few more times overnight, I wouldn't know about that. Anyhow, lets get on to the quick page which is what you really want. It is made with the newly released Frost kit by Creative Dreams.

Here is where you can grab it!

Wow

It has been a month since my last post... where has the time gone? I hope everyone had a nice Thanksgiving holiday. My mom and my sister came and spent the evening/night with us. They both seemed to really like the new house (part of why I was sooo busy last month was getting a lot of the boxes unpacked and put away).

I am still working on gifts for family as well, but I did make a desktop wallpaper QP today that I would like to share with you all. I used the soon to be released Creative Dreams kit - Frost. I just love this kit and I think you will all like it too. Enough blabbing, here is what it looks like.

You can grab it at the Creative Dream Team Blog.

In celebration of National Digital Scrapbook Day (NDSD) I have a QP to share with you! It is made with the new Creative Dreams kit Beautiful World. I just love the colors and elements in this kit. Here is my LO...

And here is the freebie that you are waiting for :)

This is the week!

Wow, have I really slacked off. So sorry. It's because I have had almost no time to create in the last month at all. This Friday is the big day. We will be closing on our house and starting to move in! I hope for things to get back to normal in a month or so when we are finally settled in. This is the only thing I have done recently at all, and only because I really needed that new desktop. I was so lost without my little calendar.I will be back I promise!

Wow, where is the time all going to? There simply aren't enough hours in a day anymore! It is looking very well on the home buying front. Inspections and appraisals have all been done, loan is approved and now its just getting final details / paperwork done. And of course I have been busy cleaning and packing here to try and get ready for the last move. Wow those words really sound like music to my ears!

Anne has released a new Free kit over at Creative Dreams called My Favorite Jeans. I loved it for this LO where I spent 30 min cleaning limbs out of the yard after the remnants of Hurricane Ike hit us.

Be sure to hop on over and grab it!

I don't have too much else to share right now, I hope to get more computer time soon... but it might not happen until after the move. Back to packing for me!

Sorry I haven't checked back in for a few days. On Friday I put the kids on the bus to school and my DH took me to the ER. I apparently had a bad ear infection. All I know is that through the wee hours of Friday morning my ear kept popping and it was very painful. At one point it popped 5 times in 5 or so seconds and it was all I could do not to scream out in pain. I probably should have called and tried to get into the Dr's office, but it was hurting so bad DH said no, we are going to the ER. I was seen and out of there getting prescriptions filled by the time I would have been able to call in and try to make an appointment at the Dr's, so I guess it was a good call on his part!

I found a challenge to scrap about your name. When I saw this I knew I had to do it because of the story behind my name. I'll show you the LO I did so you can see what I am talking about. It has definitely gotten a few chuckles in the galleries so far. (Kit is Botanical Garden by NikkiFabulous Designs)
I hope that you got a chuckle out of it as well. I'm still not feeling up to par yet so I think I'm going to go and try to sneak in a nap!

Picture perfect

I was searching for the right picture for this months picture perfect challenge over at DSO and kept coming back to the dragonflies. For the challenge the main "paper" of the LO had to be a photo, original or blended into a paper. I have always liked this type of layout, and have used it a few times in the past. For this one I decided to use the whole picture, and just blow it up to be the entire page, then I copied the smaller section of it and turned the background to a black and white. Added a small black mat to the color portion to help it stand out, and added the quote from Elegant Word Art and voila a simple yet stunning (I think at least) layout. I may even have to get this one printed and framed I am thinking.

Not too much else to share today, have a dental appointment soon and my ear is bothering me (sinus backup) so gonna jet for now!

wow have I been bad!

So sorry I was MIA all month. It has been crazy with the long vacation, getting the kids ready for back to school and we have also started looking at houses. We have finally decided to take the jump to home ownership and have been very busy researching neighborhoods, school districts, realtors etc.

Here are a couple of the LO I have managed to finish this month. Both were done for challenges that had to be finished this month. This first one is of my oldest's first day back to school. He went back last Monday.
This next one is the youngest's first day. He didn't start until Friday, and then has the long weekend off.
Hope to be around a lot more in the future. With the kids back in school and the other half back to work next week instead of home on vacation I should be around a little more.

sorry so long

since I have posted, I am currently out of state. I will be back home next week and will be posting much more then!

More dragonflies and another freebie

After doing Tuesday's LO I decided I had to do one using all 3 of the different dragonflies I had managed to get pics of. Sadly there were 3 or 4 other types that I didn't manage to catch a shot of. For this kit I used Butterfly Bling by Creative Dreams. This gorgeous kit will be available in the Creative Dreams store tomorrow! I have many other ideas for this kit and just need the time to actually do them!

I also have the second desktop wallpaper that I promised last post. I had actually made this one first, but when I thought about which photos I wanted to use in it I couldn't come up with 2 I liked together so I made the other one. Like the other wallpapers this one is made with the Ocean Friends charity kit. It is also made for 1024 by 768 and in 72dpi like the other desktop wallpapers.

I'm back.... for now.

I'm back from the mini vacation at my dad's. The good news is the boys had a ball and I got some good pictures too! We went to the Zoo, fishing, a pig roast etc. The boys even got to ride a pony and swim. I have only just started to work with the pictures I took while I was there but I do have one LO done. And it doesn't even have a person in the picture! While we were at the pond helping the boys fish I took some pictures of the many many dragonflies. I managed to get a couple good ones even. Here is a layout I did with my favorite of those dragonfly pictures. I did it for the DSO color challenge, because I think when Kim picked her colors at the beginning of this month she knew about that shot I would get, the colors were so dead on!
The credits are as follows : template - jenuineartistry.blogspot, photo clip - trivette's designs, background paper - WHB Designs - quiet elegance, paper on back frame - jamiescreations.blogspot, front frame - calvinawalsh.blogspot, green flower - LDrag designs, bottom flower / dragonflies - Saniscraps - strawberry vanilla, fiber rope - Atomic cupcake, fonts - Trajan Pro & Papyrus
Since getting home I have also been working on that August Desktop wallpaper that I promised using the Ocean Friends kit. I actually have 2 done. I did a one photo wallpaper and a two photo wallpaper. Today I will be offering the 1 photo version. Like the other one this one is in 1024 by 768 format and at 72 resolution.

Lots of news!

I have a good bit of news to share today. I am hosting my first challenge over at Creative Dreams! It is a font challenge and I would love to see what you can do with the font I chose. I am also offering a posting bonus of an alpha that matches the July released Independence kit (on sale for half off through July 31st!) in the Creative Dreams store. Here is a preview of that posting bonus.

A few months ago Anne at Creative Dreams put out a call to designers to help her crate a mega charity kit to benefit the Shriner's Hospital in Chicago and let me tell you they really came through. This kit contains over 120 papers and over 375 elements! It is in great colors for all your summertime photos. You can check out Anne's blog for more info about the kit and how it came about. This amazing kit can be purchased here!

And to help kick this off I have a freebie quick page for your desktop here. It is made for screen resolutions of 1024 by 768. I made it for this month, and since it is so late in the month I promise to also make one for August for you all. I will be posting it next week as my boys and I are headed to visit Grandpa for a few days. I hope you enjoy it!Find it here!

Challenge at Creative Dreams

Have you been over to Creative Dreams yet to check it out? There are a couple challenges there with some more in the works. One of them is a color challenge. Rachael has chosen a fun color palette for us to work with. I have done 2 layouts for it. After doing the first I didn't feel there was enough color for the challenge, but I loved the LO, so I did a second one. What do you think?
The kit I used is Dancing Feet that sweetasmel made for the challenge, and the word art is by Elegant Word Art with an atomic cupcake action used on it.

And today I will give you all the final portion of the alpha that coordinates with the Creative Dreams kit. Here are the numbers & punctuation.

I'm speechless....

I have to share this today. I have a couple of the best boys. A few days ago my oldest (8 year old) came to me and said "Mom, I want to make a scrapbook page too!" I told him to write a draft of the things he wanted to say and we would work on it. Last night he came to me with his draft and said he was ready. We sat down together and he picked his which paper and elements he wanted to use. I opened a new document for him and moved all of his choices onto it. I put the picture (one he took) in the frame for him and started the text box for him. From there he took over, typed his journaling and moved the stuff to where he wanted it on the page. The only suggestion I had to make was for him to capitalize his title. And here is his LO!

The kit he used was Vintage Blush by Creative Dreams. See why I'm speechless? Isn't that pretty darn good for an 8 year old?

And on to the promised freebie. Here is the matching lowercase alpha to yesterday's freebie. Please be sure to come on over to Creative Dreams and check it out. There are more freebies to be found there from some of the other Dream Team members. Grab it here!

Its here!

The big day is here! Today Creative Dreams is going live with a new forum and gallery! The best part is that this is not only a forum for digital scrappers, and designers, but it will also be for learning how to design! Isn't that cool! Anyhow, this is where I have been hiding the last week. I am excited to be a part of the Dream Team! I have also made some freebies to share the next few days so you can celebrate with us! I made a LO to tell a little about me, and how excited I was when I found out.

Come and check us out at Creative Dreams! There are a couple challenges posted already with more in the works. Come learn and grow with us.

On to the freebie. I have created an alpha that coordinates with the Creative Dreams kit. Today you can get the Uppercase of this alpha. Check back in days to come for the lowercase and numbers/punctuation. Now the Creative Dreams kit is just one of the FREE kits available at the Creative Dreams Store! You just can't beat that, can you?
