St Patricks Day fun

Wow, it's been a while since I've posted again. Just wanted to drop in and share a layout and a project that I did related to my Bug's St Patrick's Day celebrations at school.

Since my journaling on the layout pretty much tells the whole story, here it is so you can read it.

Colin had to make a leprechaun trap this year for school. I really had no idea what it was so of course I goggled it. When I had a better idea of what it was I asked him what he how he wanted to do it. He had a few ideas. He wanted to have a hole in his box that would be covered with a tissue so the Leprechaun would step on it and fall into the trap. To my horror he also insisted that he had to add a golden toilet to it. Working together we came up with a plan. We created his trap and we both kind of won on the golden toilet issue. He did include it, but it was down inside the box so that if he did catch a Leprechaun it could then use the restroom as needed.

This morning I received a call from his teacher. She had Colin get on the phone and ask me to come in. I asked if I should bring my camera and was told most definitely yes. When I got there the kids were all listening to the student teacher read a story so I asked with Mrs Metts what she thought about the golden toilet. She could not stop giggling and said that in 24 years of teaching that was a new one.

It turns out that Colin's trap had caught a Leprechaun! When he went to check look in his box it started shaking and you could hear a cry. It said "Excuse me! Excuse me! Someone let me out of here!" So the class is now on the watch for the Leprechaun to escape.

And the CD holder that I made to give a CD of all the pictures I had taken to the teacher. (She didn't have her camera with her because it was packed for her flight later that evening). The trapped leprechaun was so neat, but unfortunately his friends came and rescued him while everyone was out of the room to get lunch. What sneaky little guys! Here is the video that I took of the trapped leprechaun, and at the end you can hear the teacher's idea as to why he ended up in Bug's trap.

Bad bad blogger

Wow, I have been a bad bad blogger lately. So much has been going on with getting the boys ready for back to school. That day has finally come (and gone) so I am back to share a few of my recent projects now.

Here is the small back to school gift that I made for my son's second grade teacher.

And finally there is this one. I went to a speed scrap last week and found that I really had no pictures that fit the criteria of the challenge. One of the ladies jokingly offered me some of hers to work with and I took her up on it. This was the resulting layout. I am rather pleased with how it turned out.

How about this?

Wow, I have been away for a while. I promise I have been super busy during this time. About a month ago my Mom moved in with us temporarily because she had broken her ankle and needed some help. We are talking a serious break here... steel plate and 38 pins / screws. (So once she is fully healed am I able to ask her if she has a screw loose? *grin*). So anyways, we were discussing all the pretty canes that you can get if you have a normal one and she said how sad she is that she can't get one because hers has the 4 "feet" on it and they don't make them pretty. **light bulb moment** So I thought about it and set about making her a pretty cane. Here is what I came up with...
Using Man in the Moon Designs kit Charming Gardner, a lot of mod podge, acrylic sealer, silk flowers, grosgrain ribbon and hot glue. She is absolutely in love with it and so anxious to get rid of the walker and be able to use and show off her beautiful new cane!

no more lost cards...

Flash cards that is. I used some of Wendy's new products out today to make sure of that. First off she has an awesome Cardstock pack out. Look at all of those great colors!

And to go with it she has some alpha's. The bundle is the way to go here.

So, what did I do with these? I made some flash card books! I used the above products as well as her Back to School: Overlays and my wonderful Bind it All to create these. Now there is absolutely no reason for them to be all over the place. I did "shuffle" them up so they would not be sequential. Now all I have to do is find the subtraction cards in stock at the store, and put it and the division together and they will have a full set!
Well, hopefully we don't get all of this snow that they are calling for. I am so ready for all that white stuff to be gone. Have a great day!

for Mom

Ok. I altered a clipboard for my mom this week using Wendy's new kit Fat Tuesday. I didn't have any New Orleans pictures, but the papers are just gorgeous and I wanted to play with them. My mom really loves the color purple so I figured this was the perfect kit for this. I also used some Bazzil swiss dot cardstock I had found at the store and really love. Anyhow, this is what I managed to come up with. Do you like it Mom?

Organization

First off I am very sorry it has been so long since my last post. My whole family has been sick , and not all at the same time. Of course we had to drag it out and all be sick one after another!

One of my goals for this year is to be more organized and I decided to make myself a file to help with that. I will be using it to store medical and dental receipts, unpaid bills and such. Isn't it just gorgeous? I even got to play with my new Bind-it-All in making this. The flower on the front is also raised up 2 times with dimensionals. Ialso used the kit Elegant Whisper by Legacy 4life, pop dots, a corner rounder and red bazzil cardstock.
I will be back with more again soon I hope. Have a few things in the works.

ballerinas

So, I hope everyone's New Year is going well. Ours hasn't been too bad, after all my Buckeyes finally won a bowl game! And my Browns also pulled off a win streak to end the season. If only I could get rid of this lingering cough. It has been hanging around for over a week now and is really getting old. Fortunately I seem to be the only one in the family affected.

Vacations are almost over. Les went back to work today and the kids head back to school tomorrow. I have almost forgotten what peace and quiet sounds like!

Ballerinas are currently a very big thing with my niece. She is taking dance class now and is TOTALLY loving it. So I made her some stuff with an awesome kit called Tiny Dancer which is a thrice as nice collab at Scrap Matters. I made her a shirt, which I hope to have a picture of her wearing soon and this barrette holder which I am so tickled with.

More hybrid goodness

I have another hybrid project to share today. I had an absolute ball making it. I used Wendy's Santa Baby kit to make it that is still available right now in a wonderfully stuffed grab bag.
It is only in grab bag form until Thursday so if you want it you better get it fast!

But back to my project. I decided to make a Christmas ornament with this kit. While browsing around looking for other project ideas I had seen a tutorial for double ball ornaments at Splitcoast Stampers and I had loved it. When I got started I realized that the hatpins I had were larger than what they used in the tutorial so I ended up making it a triple ball ornament. What do you think?

Been busy - step journal

Sorry for the delay between posts. I have been pretty busy making things. A couple I can't share until after the holidays, and the rest I will share over a period of the next few days. Today I will share a project that I have had in mind for a while, and decided how I wanted to do it just recently. If you have followed my blog for a while you may have noticed that down near the bottom of the gadget bar I have a walker tracker widget. I wear a pedometer pretty much every day and try to get in the recommended 10k steps a day. I got lazy about recording it, and have made it one of my new years resolutions to keep better track. To assist me with that I grabbed a weekly planner at the dollar store and decorated it. I used Wendy's Life is a Marathon word art pack that she made up to celebrate her Mom's first Marathon. I also used the paper pack that Jen Davey made up to go with the word art pack. I added the word steps to the 10k element for the cover. It says "at least 10K STEPS a day IS THE GOAL". Then I made up stickers using the 5, 8, 10, 15 and 20k elements. (If I start walking closer to the next amount I will print them out as well) I plan to use the stickers each day below the day of the week and date to mark at a glance which of those amounts I hit on that day. It will leave the lines to the side so I can put in exact numbers and journal some about what I did that day and how I felt.

So I am hoping that this will help encourage me to keep walking and pushing for better totals. Does anyone want to be a walking buddy?

Hot news!

I have some hot news to share today! A little over a week ago I noticed a CT call that interested me. Wendy (WM[squared] Designs) was looking for regular scrap as well as hybrid. I decided to go ahead and throw in my hat. And guess what??? I made it! Along with 12 more full time and a number of special guests! Here is the whole crew.

I jumped right in with both feet and already have a project to share! I decided to work with her new Halloween kit Boo Bash. I am having a blast with it. I have made a t-shirt for me already as well as a couple of other projects with this kit. (I'm waiting for final approval from the boys before I finish them). What I really love about making these shirts is that I know it is an original, I won't be running into anyone else with the same design. Here is the wonderful Boo Bash kit as well as the pic of me in my new shirt.

Momma's lil' cupcake

I have another project to share today using Nadya's Cupcake by Desert Designs. I made this t-shirt for my niece to wear. I think it is just adorable and can't wait to get it rewashed (a must after the transfer process) and sent to her. I am hoping that she will really like her one of a kind tee. I love my boys dearly, but they wouldn't go for something like this now... Too bad I hadn't found digi / hybrid until they were both in school. I could have had a lot of fun embellishing baby clothes!
